Upgrading from v7

Post by payne296 » Tue Jul 19, 2011 2:28 pm

Hi all,

I currently run on GdPicture SDK v7 and am considering upgrading to v8. I upgraded from v6 to v7 last year, and I wanted to confirm that I wouldn't have any problems upgrading from my v7 upgrade to v8.

Hello,

You can buy an upgrade to v8 even if your v7 is an already upgraded version from v6. The only thing is that we'll have to generate for you an additional key to unlock the v8 because the method to unlock the v8 needs an original v7 key (I'm not sure if this is understandable enough...).

When you've made your purchase, just create a sales ticket here

http://support.gdpicture.com/index.php? ... rtmentid=3

with a copy of your invoice and we'll give you the additional key and the method to unlock the v8 :)

Please let me know if you need further information.

Best Regards,

Elodie

Sounds good. The only other question I had was about the PDF plugin. Is the old PDF functionality still available in the main package? I don't want to upgrade if I'm going to lose my PDF functionality.

Thanks!

All the PDF functionalities (old ones and new ones) have been moved to the new PDF Plugin. However the setlicensenumberupgrade unlocks the PDF functions which were present in v7 so you can still use them.

Hello again,

How does the license number upgrade get set in the PDF class? I tried just setting the main SetLicenseNumberUpgrade of the GdPictureImaging class, but it told me the feature needed to be unlocked. I'm just trying to save a PDF, which is obviously functionality that existed by default in v7.

Thanks!

Hi,

To unlock the GdPicturePDF Plugin parts that you can use you have to unlock use the SetLicenseNumberUpgrade with a GdPictureImaging object before instancing a GdPicturePDF object.

Then, you will be able to use the part of the plugin that was previously available in GdPicture.NET 7

If you still have an alert when you save as PDF, just ensure to don't use the "packing" option and check you are saving a PDF document created from scratch.

Lt me know if you need further information.

Kind regards,

Loïc

Thanks Loic, it turns out I just needed to do pdf.NewPDF() after GdPicturePDF pdf = new GdPicturePDF();
