Not detecting orientation on machine based characters images

Post by SarrasiM » Thu Jan 28, 2016 4:18 pm

Good morning,

We've updated GdPicture to latest releases a few times in the last months but dating a few releases back, we've been experiencing unexpected behavior with the OCRTesseractGetOrientation(). Although we've been giving it extremely clean machine printed document, it will actually finds out an image needing rotation in a proportion of 1 out of 10. We've never had such bad results in the past and we're wondering if there were any changes made to this function in the last releases? We can unfortunately not share the documents as they contains sensitives information but if you could give us more detail or maybe specify a release that would give us the same results we had in the past it would be greatly appreciated.

FYI, this is our code:

Code: Select all

gdp.OCRTesseractClear();

int degree = gdp.OCRTesseractGetOrientation(id, "eng", @".\data", 10);

if (degree != 0) gdp.RotateAngle(id, 360f - (float)degree);
Thank you for your precious help and great tool, hope we can manage to fix this small issue :)

Hello,

Unfortunately without getting the file that demonstrates this problem we can't do anything. You can share confidential content under NDA through our helpdesk that you can reach at http://support.gdpicture.com

The only thing that I can tell is this method is continuously improved based on high volume document testing. You should also check that you are using our latest release.

With best regards,

Loïc

Hi Loic,

I will try to get my hand on sample images and get client's agreement. Meanwhile we've received a formal complaint and absolutely need to roll back to a previous version. It is not conceivable to keep the system as is. Where can we get previous releases? We absolutely need to go back to a previous version where the feature worked better.

Again, thank you for your support.

Hello,

The only package we provide for download is the latest build version of a major release. So if you are looking for a specific version 11 that is not the latest build we will not be able to assist.

With best regards,

Loïc
