Still having problems in reading pdf-files

Postby Gotfredsen » Tue Jun 02, 2009 11:08 am

trying to read/open a pdf file from a CD(this is finalized, so it is writeprotected).
i get an errormessage:
The heading is: "GdPicturePro5
the error-message File not found: <the full file name>

i open the image with the line
gdpicturestatus = GdViewer1(imageNr).DisplayFromFileICM(DataPath + BilledArray(imageNr).Navn)
and using a msgbox, i can see that the gdpicturestatus is 10

when i try to open the same file from my harddisc, i get no errormessage, and the gdpicturestatus is 0

I have used the program for a longer time, and to my best knowledge, it functioned earlier (i know, that we all say that)

Hi Eric,

Error 10 means FileNotFound are you sure to point to the good location ?

Kind regards,

The filename is correct, pointing to a propper pdf-file.

When the file-name is on my disc or other Read/write medias, it functions.
It is only on Read only medias, that it fails

I really have a doubt on this.

Please, try to check your file path in another way. IE: try to open the file in read only.

Also you can use this code to prompt the user to select the path itself:

Code: Select all
gdpicturestatus = GdViewer1(imageNr).DisplayFromFileICM("")

Eureka !

Sorry for all troubles made by my question.

I seems, that filenames written to a cd is automaticaly abbrevated to the length of 64 chars.

The file i was looking for is named: PdfFiles.RAD_7826U 181253-1138 2007-01-19 POULSEN, LIZZY FOGTMANN.PDF

but without my knowing it had been renamed to: PdfFiles_RAD_7826U 181253-1138 2007-01-19 POULSEN, LIZZY FOG.PDF
so the abbrevating part was made in the name part, before the extension.
This was probably the reason for my not observing differences in the name.

Again sorry, my fault. not a mistake in the GdPicture software.

Erik
