OJPEG Compression for Decoding.

Postby britnis » Tue Mar 02, 2010 10:53 am

Hello Loic,

Version: Gd Picture Pro Activex Imaging toolkit version 5.12.8

We are facing an issue with opening tiff images compressed with JPEG compression [JPEG-In-TIFF]. The tiff images were able to be opened in MS Office Picture manager but not in the Windows Picture & Fax Viewer and Gdviewer.

Also, I came across a thread in this forum which informed me that
Code: Select all
TiffCompressionOJPEG
option is available for decoding JPEG-In-TIFF image formats. But my SaveAsTIFF function do not show this option in the drop-down list.

Please assist me at the earliest with a sample code, with decoding the tiff images so that the images are to be opened in the gdviewer.

Please find below the attributes of the tiff image that we are facing issue with:

SubFileType (1 Long): Zero
ImageWidth (1 Short): 1269
ImageLength (1 Short): 1648
BitsPerSample (1 Short): 8
Compression (1 Short): JPEG Original TIFF 6.0 spec
Photometric (1 Short): MinIsBlack
Model (23 ASCII): HP LaserJet 3055 TWAIN
StripOffsets (1 Long): 775190
SamplesPerPixel (1 Short): 1
RowsPerStrip (1 Long): 1648
StripByteCounts (1 Long): 106876
XResolution (1 Rational): 150
YResolution (1 Rational): 150
ResolutionUnit (1 Short): Inch
Software (51 ASCII): Microsoft Office Document Scanning 11.0.1897...
DateTime (20 ASCII): 2009:09:29 17:34:28
Artist (5 ASCII): Jenn
SubIFD (1 Long): 895364
JpegIFOffset (1 Long): 775190
JpegIFByteCount (1 Long): 106876
37679 (2847 Undefined):
37681 (4160 Undefined):

A solution to open this image in the Gd viewer would be highly helpful.

Please find the attachment which shows that TiffCompressionOJPEG option is not available.

Regards,
britnis

Hi,

OJPEG compression is 100% supported for decoding purpose.
I think the problem is away.

Please attach the image you are trying to open for investigation.

With best regards,

Loïc

I can provide a sample TIFF - other tiff utilities show its compression type as 6 (Old JPEG in TIFF?). This can be opened in Microsoft Document Imaging, Kodak, Kofax but not in GD PIC PRO 5.12.8 (ActiveX version) or Fax and Image viewer.
