Cannot load PDF

Postby JNewhouse » Tue Apr 14, 2009 10:25 pm

Hello Loic and Forum users,

I don't think this is a gdpicturepro problem but wanted to post here anyway hoping someone has seen this before and can offer suggestions.

i have a workstation (client site, not my own) that gets an error when the DisplayFromPDFFile() function is used on a pdf file. The error is 203 which means cannot load PDF. the pdf file we're using is valid and i can load it on my system.

I narrowed the problem down to the location of the gdpdfplug.dll, if it is in my applications folder it does *not* work. if i copy this dll into the windows\system32 folder it works fine.

If i try to load a jpeg file, it works fine (no files copied to the windows\system32 folder). so, the problem seems to be specific to the gdpdfplug.dll and where it's located. my application's app folder has full control user rights, so i don't think it's rights related.

of course i know i could just keep this file in the windows\system32 folder but want to avoid that.

anyone else seen this problem?? ideas??

Thanks,

Jean-Claude

Hi jean-clause,

just copy gdpdfplug.dll into the same directory as gdpicturepro5.ocx or into a directory defined by the system PATH. IE: c:\windows\system32\

Kind regards,

Loïc

I wanted to add my experience to this post for others looking for a solution.

We run applications using GDpicture activex in a Citrix/Server 2003 environment. Our clients scan documents, using the pdf format, into our application and we were having problems displaying the document after it was scanned in the GDviewer. Our gdpdfplug.dll was located in the same directory as the gdpicturepro5.ocx.

Once I moved the gdpdfplug.dll into the windows/system32 directory the problem corrected itself and we are now able to display the scanned pdf documents
