GdTwain and Epson GT15000 problem

Postby steves » Fri Oct 17, 2008 4:51 pm

Hi there i have a problem using this driver with the epson gt15000 scanner.
Ive install the demo of gdpicture pro 5 latest version.
When you use gdtwain to aquire a scan it is very slow at scanning.
Ive tried the setting Image.TwainSetAutoScan(True) 'To achieve the maximum scanning rate but it doesnt work on this scanner.
What i have noticed in the scanners twain driver you can set 300 dpi but also have a "best" or "draft setting for high speed".
The gdtwain driver must use the default best setting as a slow scan is produced.
If i show the user interface i can select draft and it scans quickly but the ADF doesnt seem to work.
I have read though the gt15000 manual and found an intesting comment about special tags to set to change the modes.

TAG_SCANNINGSPEED One of the following values:
• 0 Normal speed
• 1 High speed (draft mode)

Does this software support these tags or is there a workaround that you know of.Im using vb.net.
Many thanks
Steve

Hi Steves,

First GdTwain is not a driver at all. It is a Toolkit which allows you to control your TWAIN driver from your applications.

The very slow time is due to your scanner capability and also to his current configuration (scanning resolution, bitdepth...)

There is anything about the TAG_SCANNINGSPEED capability into the TWAIN references. I don't know what this tag means and I don't think it can be control through the TWAIN protocol.
