PDF viewing, ocr and other clarifications

Postby Rajmohankc » Wed Jul 30, 2008 2:51 pm

1. Do we get GDviewer control as part of GDtwain Pro?

2. In the comparison matrix, PDF viewing is listed as a feature of GDtwain Pro. How do we view PDF files?

3. If I have 10 visiting cards being scanned, can I in someway use the border or the spacing to differentiate between the cards and save them as separate files for an OCR engine to read? Idea is to scan multiple visiting cards and save them into database as contacts. Is it possible to tweak the border thing and somehow achieve this? If not, by any chance, are there any other 3rd party tools/APIs that can be used for cutting the document based on the separation between groups of text?

4.Generally, most of the scanned photographs would be slightly tilted. Using GDtwain PRO I can only tilt in 90 degree angles, and not in lower angles like 2 or 3 degrees. To do that, I need to buy GDpicture Toolkit PRO. Am I right?

Yes, GdTwain Pro includes a Twain control and the GdViewer control.

Using the DisplayFrom... methods of the GdViewer control. See the reference guide.

It is a very specific issue. I don't think there is any control on the market which can perform that.
I can only suggest you to scan each card in a standalone file.

No, GdTwain [Pro] doesn't include feature to rotate an image by a custom angle. This feature is only include into GdPicture Light & GdPicture pro.
