Error calling GetPDFAConformance function

I tried with 2 different PDF/A files, one created using gdPicture. Both the times i got a "Length cannot be less than zero. Parameter name: length" error invoking "GetPDFAConformance".
I'm loading the file from a memory stream.

Am i missing something? Also, is this the only/correct way to check if a PDF is actually a PDF/a?
