VirtualPC display problem

Postby Bill » Thu Jun 23, 2011 2:43 pm

Hello Loic,

I have just this week started using Microsoft VirtualPC v7 within 32-bit Vista Home Premium as host Operating System here, moving away from having many different installed test OS's as dual boot on my computers.
Immediately I do so, looking at my product/program I find that the GdPicturePro-5 graphics (GdViewer) are seriously ugly! Artifacts totally overlay images, colors are sploched and either lumpy or speckled, detail randomly missing. Side-by-side I look at the same image as displayed by a VB6 Picture control and all looks normal

Yet the same product running within any direct OS and not using VirtualPC looks great.
Are you aware of this problem? Any idea how to fix or where to investigate?
Help!

Thank you for any response,
Bill

Kind regards,

Hi Loic,

I tried the command GdViewer1.ForcePictureMode = True without resolving the problem.

I think I might be seeing an effect like looking at 8-bit bitmaps as opposed to 24-bit, yet I have taken the effort to insure that my test photos are all 24-bit and if true would expect this distortion to be visible within any OS I used, which it is not. The effect is most prominent while running my program in development mode under VirtualPC & VB6, yet still seriously visible when compiled.
Anyway I have tried using Call Imaging1.ConvertTo24BppRGB without clearing result.
Example: http://www.simtel.net/product/view/id/403094

Help or Suggestions?
Thanks,
Bill
