Hi,
1) It says that you get all Major updates, does that mean you get all future releases of the component. The NET component seems to be only in Minor revisions. Is the ActiveX component no longer going to be in major development and most of the time is going to be on the NET component?
All license for GdPicture activeX SDKs come with free major upgrades. It was our initial business model 4 years ago. But you have to keep in mind:
- We target efforts on .NET & SilverLight plateforms
- ActiveX is an old technology with no support on Firefox & other OS such as Unix or MAC
- We have currently no plan to provide 64 bit support for the ActiveX technology, we will bring 64 bit support on GdPicture.NET within 2 months.
- We keep our ActiveX technology alive for vb6, delphi 7, RealBasic and other environment of development which don't support .NET technology. If you are a .NET developer you should go to GdPicture.NET
2) Is there a simple chart comparing the ActiveX and the NET component. If not can you provide one. I've looked at the two and tried to compare the extra features NET component has but it would be nice to have them in one place

.
No, we don't have comparison charts. Keep in mind that GdPicture.NET is faster, with more features & will include all our latest R&D efforts.
The price difference between the two is huge and so is the update support. Mind you, your pricing is still quite unbeatable.
Basically, our price depend on the amount of the research & development we put to create the SDK. In same time, we try to provide fair pricing for customers.
Of course we are a business company therefore we try to take the best benefice as possible, but our customers satisfaction stays our
priority.
3) I assume both the ActiveX and NET allow you to have access to pixel level of images.
Yes
4) You support all PSD formats including CS5?
I don't know, to be tested...
5) If a camera codecs is installed on the system, will your component be able to read the image? Can it use image codecs is the question I am asking.
No you can't.
Hope I was clear enough.
With best regards,
Loïc
