EXIF thumbnail without opening file

Is it possible to extract the EXIF thumbnail without loading the entire image?

I have found examples of how to do this in .NET (outside of GDPicture), but can it be done using GDPicture in VB6?

No we don't provide this feature. Maybe you can have a look on ExifTool by Phil Harvey. it is a free library, see: http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/
