Delay Between Pages when Printing

We are currently evaluating the PDF viewer for our desktop application. The only problem we've encountered is a significant delay when printing pages with graphics. Our PDF has several text-only pages followed by several pages with two 4"x5" images. The text pages print fine, but then the printer stops, prints two of the graphics pages, then stops again. This repeats until all of the pages are printed. Neither Adobe Reader nor FoxIT display this behavior, nor does a competing .Net viewer control. Is this a problem with our settings and/or the method in which we call the print function?
